Strategies to Support Your Children in Completing Tasks

Is your child struggling to complete tasks? Are you finding yourself in a constant battle between what your child WANTS to do, and what is EXPECTED of them?

I am so excited to share with you all my tips and strategies for motivating your child, and having them start completing tasks WITHOUT the battle.

Token Boards

Token Boards can be life-changing in your home when it comes to having your child initiate AND complete a task.

Remember to state their behavior goal (IF they have one), ask them what they want to work for, and reward them promptly.

Chunk the Day

Chunk tasks throughout the day. With the day broken up, you child can have a clear sense of what is expected and when, allowing them to focus on one thing at a time. Avoid the overwhelm and chunk the day for your child!

*Are you ready to take Token Boards to the next level?

Use a token board that is chunked by time. The same rules apply: State the child’s behavior goal (IF they have one), ask what they want to work for, and praise promptly!

Rewards that work

How do we find what truly motivates our children? Get them involved! Bring your children into the conversation and work together to make a list of things that they would be motivated to work for! Eliminate the guessing game and empower your children to play a role in earning what they work for.

Staying Motivated

How do we keep our kids to stay motivated and complete the task? Plan it out! Work with your child about the steps they need to take from start to finish in completing a task and support them in what they need to get to the finish.

So often kids lose motivation simply because they don't know what to do next. Plan each step, make it visual, and watch your children complete tasks, earn rewards, and find success!

Completing Tasks Steps

These are just a few of many ideas to support your children in completing tasks and staying motivated until they are complete.
