Embracing the BISON Mentality and Creating Change Across The Nation: SELebrating with Evergreen STEM Elementary

I am SO excited to announce that on March 3rd, International SEL Day, I will have the honor of visiting the incredible BISON herd at Evergreen STEM Elementary in Sedro-Woolley, WA! This incredible school has won the grand prize of a visit from yours truly after showing the world just how much they've embraced the BISON mentality and created a school community that's absolutely thriving.

What began as a 4th grade mother-daughter teacher duo has quickly turned into a movement that's taken on a mind…and a MURAL…of its own. These incredible students and educators went all out to show everyone what it means to "be a BISON" – facing challenges head-on, leading with intention, and building a culture of resilience that's truly awe-inspiring.

Students came together to create a video that'll give you goosebumps, showcasing their BISON spirit in a way that's impossible to ignore. They shared their message with the world on social media, and it wasn't long before everyone wanted a piece of that BISON action. Even their district's Facebook page and newsletter couldn't help but give them a shout-out for their mind-blowing dedication to Social Emotional Learning and creating a school culture that's second to none.

Being a BISON is so much more than just a catchy phrase – it's a whole way of life. It's about being intentional in everything we do, from facing challenges head-on with courage to leading with compassion, and building a culture of resilience that can weather any storm. And let me tell you, Evergreen STEM Elementary has taken intentionality to a whole new level!

When they created their video showcasing their BISON spirit, they didn't just go through the motions – they poured their hearts and souls into it. Every single frame was crafted with purpose, capturing the essence of what it means to be BISON. And when it came time to spread the word, they didn't just sit back and hope people would notice. No way! They were intentional about sharing their message far and wide, making sure that everyone in the district and beyond could feel the power of their BISON energy.

This is what being intentional is all about – putting thought and purpose behind every action, no matter how big or small. Evergreen STEM Elementary has shown that when you approach life with intentionality, you can create a ripple effect that touches everyone around you. And when you do THAT, you find even more of your people and that bison herd grows!

When I visit Evergreen STEM Elementary, I'll have the chance to spend the day with their incredible teachers and students, diving headfirst into what it means to connect, grow, and let that BISON mentality shine. We'll be exploring all sorts of ways to create a school environment that's supportive, resilient, and empowers every single member of the herd to be their best selves.

Together, we're going to make this International SEL Day one for the books – a SELebration of the life-changing power of embracing our inner BISON and being intentional in everything we do.

Evergreen STEM Elementary, I'm coming for you, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of your amazing community!
